Rivervale Wedding Photographer: Carol & Paul

Carol & Paul were married a couple of months ago, late October to be more precise, and chose the magnificent Rivervale Barn in Yateley as their venue. As I’ve said before, if ever there was a venue “designed by photographers, for photographers”, then this is it. A modern light and airy building but with lots of vintagey, barn type features, it is such an inspiring venue to photograph at.

Being mid autumn all we needed was a half decent day weatherise and we were going to be in for a real treat with all of the gorgeous autumnal colours at their very best throughout the scenic, privately owned gardens. And thankfully after a bit of a damp start that’s what we got. A truly memorable and colourful day start to finish. Even a ‘police raid’ couldn’t upset the apple-cart….

Rivervale Barn Wedding Photographer: Sophie and Jaison

Sophie and Jaison were married at the magnificent Rivervale Barn in Yateley, Surrey, a couple of weeks back. Wow, if ever there was a venue ‘designed by photographers, for photographers’ then this is it! Quintessentially, photogenically English, beautiful backdrops for every camera angle, loads of natural daylight, balconies, staircases and other strategically placed great vantage points. I knew Rivervale Barn was going to be an absolute joy to photograph right from when we all met up for Sophie & Jaison’s pre-wedding shoot back in the ever so chilly depths of spring.

But having a gorgeous venue is one thing, at the end of the day it comes down to the bride and groom (and their guests of course) and the personality that they stamp on their day by way of all the little details and general themes and stylising. Having known Sophie through my Son’s school, and very happily being his teacher, I always knew that Sophie’s wedding was going to be so vibrant, humorous and fun and a real pleasure to photograph and document the story of their day. The Venue was just the icing on the cake, and what a cake it was!

Like her favourite Disney characters, this fairytale princess had her dream, had it all come true and now she’s gonna live it. Sophie (and Jaison of course!), thanks for having me…..and for helping my Son blossom in the way he has. This set of images, and the stunning album that will follow, are my gift to you.

Rivervale Barn Wedding Photographer: Sophie & Jaison’s pre-wedding photo shoot

If ever I get the chance to design a wedding venue then the magnificent Rivervale Barn in Yateley would form the blueprint! In fact I’m quite convinced that it was designed by a photographer itself!

The venue has all the characteristics and charm of an old barn, as the name would suggest, but it also has lots of huge great big north facing windows – so lots of gorgeous natural light to work with! On top of that there are balconies all around the inside that will allow many different perspectives when it comes to photographing Sophie & Jaison’s big day in August. And that’s just the inside – add the gorgeous garden and courtyard and we’re going to be in for a treat. Oh how the creative juices are going to flow!

So here’s a selection of photographs from Sophie & Jaison’s pre-wedding shoot which we conducted at the Barn one very sunny, but also very cold, afternoon last week. I just loved the excitement that was exuded from the Bride & Groom to be as we made our way around the venue. Roll on August!
